Caterpillars - The Garden Tiger Moth Caterpillar

First seen on Friday 4th June 2021 at Druridge Pools

The caterpillar of the Garden Tiger Moth is a very familiar caterpillar, affectionately known as a "Wooly Bear". They were widespread in the UK, although numbers have decreased and I very fairly see either the caterpillar of the moth these days. The hairs cause irritation, to protect it from predators. They eat low-growing, herbaceous plants.
