The Golden Plover is similar to a Grey Plover, but has golden-brown plumage rather than grey. The Grey Plover is usually found on the shore, whereas Golden Plovers can usually be found further inland, often on meadows and saltmarsh. This one was actually in an adjacent farm field, another common place to see them. In the winter they have a pale underbelly, but in the summer this changes to a very striking black, outlined with white.
