The Teal is a winter visitor to the UK, from Europe and Iceland. The male Teal is a colourful duck, having a grey body, with a green panel on its brown head. The female is quite plain like many female ducks (good camouflage for nesting). The Teal is one of the smallest ducks found in the UK, only 34-38cm in length. This one however is not our usual Teal from Europe, but one from America. It is a rare visitor to the UK, with only a few dozen per year.

The main difference between this one and our normal Teal is the vertical white stripe either side of his chest. You can clearly see the difference in the second photo, with the normal Teal on the left.
