Mammals - The Grey Seal

First seen on Saturday 21st November 2020 at Druridge Pools

There are two types of Seal normally found on the UK coastline - the Harbour (or Common) Seal and the Grey Seal. The north-east coast is known for its Grey Seals, which have longer snouts and wider nostrils than the Harbour Seal. At low tide they haul themselves out onto rocks or sandy beaches, but Druridge Bay is probably too busy with people (and dogs) for the seals to safely come onto the beach. These are the sorts of views you will get of the seals in the bay - usually just their head, or sometimes you may see them feeding.
