Corvids - The Jackdaw

First seen on Wednesday 19th May 2021 at Druridge Pools

Jackdaws are quite noisy birds and you will often hear their metallic 'jack-jack-jack' call as they fly from tree-top to tree-top and argue about who has the best perch. Sometime they will come down to the ground to feed. At first glance, corvids can look similar - Jackdaws are the smallest, and have the characteristic grey hood, and lovely pale blue eyes. Crows seem to be the dominant corvid on the dunes, Jackdaws tend to be found in the adjacent farmland.
