Finches and Buntings - The Lapland Bunting

First seen on Monday 12th April 2021 at Druridge Pools

The Lapland Bunting is a rare visitor to the UK, and can be found in coastal areas, especially stubble fields (this on was in farmland adjacent to Druridge Links). It tends to stay on the ground, and this one was finding seeds. This one is in winter plumage, probably a female. In summer, the male has a splendid black face outlined in white with a rust coloured neck.
