The Latticed Heath Moth gets its name very logically from the lattice pattern on its wings and that it can be found on heathland. It is quite a reasonable size for a moth, up 3cm wingspan. It could be mistaken for a butterfly as it flies in the daytime and when at rest can fold its wings back like a butterfly (as in the second photo) - most moths tend not to do this. This one was found on Druridge Bay dunes.
