Waders - The Little Ringed Plover

First seen on Sunday 11th April 2021 at Druridge Pools

The Little Ringed Plover is one of two similar members of the plover family. This one has a black beak and very distinct yellow rings around its eyes whereas the Ringed Plover has a bright orange and black beak, but no yellow eye-rings. The Little Ringed Plover is quite rare in Northumberland, so you are more likely to see a Ringed Plover. This one was only passing through, and feeding the edge of the pools
