Moths - The Purple Bar

First seen on Monday 26th July 2021 at Druridge Bay

The Purple Bar (Cosmorhoe ocellata) is a member of the carpet moth family. It has a very contrasting set of white and black bands which have a velvety look. Flying from May to August it can have two broods, but here in the north only one. The caterpillars feed on bedstraw.
