Auks - The Razorbill

First seen on Wednesday 9th December 2020 at Druridge Pools

Razorbills breed on rocky cliffs along the coast, but can be seen fishing in Druridge Bay. They are not easy to spot, as they stay submerged for quite some time. This one is in its winter plumage, with more white on its face - nowhere near as smart as its summer uniform with clean lines and sharp markings. It is still easy to distinguish from a guillemot, as it has a thick, less pointed bill.
