Beetles - The Red Soldier Beetle

First seen on Sunday 11th July 2021 at Druridge Pools

The Common Red Soldier Beetle as the name suggests is the most common species of soldier beetle, and usually found on flowers such as cow parsley or hogweed. They are all over orangey-red, with a black tip on the wing case. They are nicknamed "bloodsucker" but are actually harmless. In fact they are beneficial, as they eat aphids.
