Bumblebees - The Red-tailed Bumblebee

First seen on Sunday 2nd August 2020 at Druridge Pools

Quite common in most places with flowers, this bumblebee has another apt name. It is all over black, with just a red tip to its tail. Pollen is taken back to the nest to feed the young. They are one of the seven most common bumblebees.

However, it is only the queen and workers that have these colours, the male is quite different. He still has a red tail (a bit subdued) but also has a yellow face and shoulders.
