Thrushes and Chats - The Redstart

First seen on Sunday 11th September 2022 at Druridge Pools

A male redstart is quite dramatic bird, with a black face, white head, grey wings, red chest and tail. Females and juveniles are much less dramatic, just having the red tail. The red in its name is actually more on an orange colour. This is a juvenile, but you can clearly see the red tail which gives it its name. This one was feeding along the fence line of the Budge Fields.
