Finches and Buntings - The Reed Bunting

First seen on Saturday 11th July 2020 at Druridge Pools

These birds superficially appear very similar to sparrows. However, the male has a striking black head with white moustache. The female like the sparrow, is quite different from the male, being much paler, but with lovely brown markings. Reed Buntings can be found all over the dunes. They often perch on branches and twigs, singing away in plain view.
