Moths - The Ruby Tiger Moth

First seen on Thursday 12th August 2021 at Druridge Pools

The Ruby Tiger Moth (like many moths) is much more interesting when it has its wings open. It has bright red underwings with black patches, plus a bright red body. They fly during the day as well as by night. They can be found in most habitats, including the sand dunes of Druridge Bay. The caterpillars feed on a variety of plants, including ragworts, heathers, dock and dandelion.
