The Shaded Broad-bar Moth is quite a small moth (2cm wingspan). It is easily disturbed while you are walking along paths near long grass, but soon settles down again. It has a distinctive broad brown band with two dark spots either side, and two short diagonal lines on the wingtips. Colours do vary a little, but the patterns are alway consistent. It flies from June until September. These were found in the dunes at Druridge Bay.
