The Shore Lark is similar to the Skylark (from behind), but has an unmistakable pale yellow and black face. Unlike the Skylark, Shore Larks spend most of their time on the ground, on beaches or fields close to the coast (hence their name) although they have been found well in land occasionally. This one was shuffling around (and hiding) on newly ploughed farmland adjacent to the National Trust Dunes. Unlike the Skylark, they do not sing, but just have a short squeaky call.
