Finches and Buntings - The Snow Bunting

First seen on Tuesday 26th October 2021 at Druridge Pools

The Snow Bunting is a winter visitor, usually found on the coast. They are usually found on the ground, often feeding in grasses, feeding on plants such as Samphire. This one was in the dunes at the edge of the beach - in the final photo you can see it is eating an insect. In the summer, they breed on high peeks in snow, so their plumage then is white with black patches.
