Larks, Pipits and Wagtails - The Water Pipit

First seen on Saturday 19th March 2022 at Druridge Pools

The Water Pipit is one of the UK's less common pipits, and is usually quite difficult to see and identify. This one seems to be half way between winter and summer plumage. They are similar to Rock Pipits, but have a much paler underside, with fewer streaks. They also have white wing bars and a white stripe over the eye. In summer uniform they have a grey head and pink breast.
