Wasps - The Toothed Tiger Wasp

First seen on Friday 18th June 2021 at Wallington

Amblyteles Armatorius is one of a vast number (tens of thousands) of species of Ichneumon Wasps. These wasps are parasitic and prey on caterpillars of butterflies and moths. Obviously with so many varieties, identification is not easy, so my labels for these Ichneumon Wasps is just 'best guess'. This Amblyteles Armatorius is very clearly marked with yellow and black (three of each colour on the abdomen), plus the bright yellow triangle on its back. The legs are yellow, with black patches, the all over colours giving it its name Toothed Tiger.
