Hover-flies - Anasimyia Contracta

The Anasimyia Contracta Hoverfly is characterised by its black abdomen with a symmetric white "hockey sticks" pattern. It is usually found near still water. A similar species (Scaeva pyrastri) is called the Pied Hoverfly, due to its black and white appearance.
