Demoiselles prefer flowing streams and rivers, so the river (rather than the various lakes) at Wallington is the place to look for these. Beautiful Demoiselles like fast flowing rivers, this Banded Demoiselle prefers a slower flow. These Damselflies are quite a bit bigger than the other damselflies, and with the male's large dark spot on his wings they are easy to spot in flight. When settled you can see the fantastic metallic blue-green colour. As well as the wing spot, the male has a more blue colour, whereas the female is green, with clear wings.
