Warblers, Crests and Flycatchers - The Blackcap

The Blackcap is another bird that can in theory be seen all year round but you are much less likely to see one in the winter. The majority of blackcaps migrate to us in the spring and they perch in the trees and sing their heart out. If you spot one, they are unmistakable, as they live up to their name and have a very black cap on their heads (unless they are a female, when it is hazel coloured).
