Finches and Buntings - The Brambling

First seen on Sunday 22nd December 2019 at Wallington

The Brambling is a finch and is often found mixing with Chaffinches. You can occasionally think a brightly coloured chaffinch is a Brambling, but when you see them together like this they are actually very different. The Brambling has much brighter colouring (even more so in the summer). Like chaffinches, they tend to be ground feeders, feeding on fallen seeds under trees (or feeders in this case). They are not common, and it's always a treat to see one.
