Hover-flies - Criorhina Berberina

First seen on Friday 18th June 2021 at Wallington

This hoverfly is a good bumblebee mimic - it looks very much like a Tree Bumblebee. They are usually found in ancient woodland and other places with old trees - This one was in the West Wood at Wallington. They fly all through the summer, but most often sen in May and June, visiting the flowers of Hawthorn, Bramble and Hogweed.
