Flies - The Dark-edged Bee Fly

First seen on Tuesday 9th May 2023 at Wallington

Confusingly named, this is actually a fly, but resembles a bee due to its fury body. They are nectar feeders, so will often be found near plants. The dark edge refers to the wings. It is quite a dramatic looking insect with its long proboscis, which looks like a cartoon stinger, but they are quite harmless.
