Thrushes and Chats - The Fieldfare

First seen on Saturday 6th January 2024 at Wallington

The Fieldfare is a winter visitor. It can often be found at the tops of tall trees but also on smaller trees and on the ground. They feed on fruit, so can be found in berry trees and in orchards, feeding on fallen apples. They tend to fly in small flocks and can be heard chattering as they fly around (chak-chak-chak). As the berries run out, they switch to ground feeding and feed on grubs etc.
