Flies - The Flesh Fly

First seen on Monday 16th August 2021 at Wallington

The name is a bit gruesome, and they do live up to their name - they can be found on dead or rotting animal tissue and their maggots eat rotting flesh. However, they can also be found in more pleasant places, and are easy to find in meadows and hedgerows, usually on leaves in the bushes. They have red eyes, black and grey body with three stripes on the thorax and checkered pattern on the abdomen. Their feet have little pads on them.
