The Green-veined White Butterfly is one of several 'white' butterflies and are quite common in the meadows and gardens. Although you can see veins in the wings, it is the underside pattern that gives this butterfly its name. If you look at the photograph you can see the green shaded veins underneath are actually black on very pale yellow. The female has more black markings than the male, and the second brood of the year also has more black again.
