Herons, Egrets, Cranes and Bitterns - The Grey Heron

First seen on Wednesday 17th July 2019 at Wallington

You will normally see Grey Herons standing in a lake or on the shore fishing at the side of water. You can also see them in trees, as this is where they roost. They stand perfectly motionless, waiting for a fish (or some other tasty morsel) to pass by. Then they will strike very quickly, with their long beak.
