Moths - The Silver-Y Moth

First seen on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 at Wallington

The Silver-Y moth is one of the more common moths. It flies in the day-time and although this one was found in the walled garden, they are more commonly found in wilder areas such as the meadows. Although similar in size to a butterfly, it can easily be recognised as a moth by their rapid wing beat. The Silver-Y moth gets its name from the pale 'Y' shaped mark on its forewing. This one was seen in October - very late in the year.
