Birds of Prey - The Sparrowhawk

First seen on Thursday 27th February 2020 at Wallington

These aren't very good photos, but the Sparrowhawk doesn't always pose for its photo session like some birds. These were taken from the wildlife hide (one through glass). As well as seed, the feeders usually have plenty of "food" for the Sparrowhawk! You may not see the sparrowhawk, but you will see its effect - when it's near, all the birds will scatter and the place will be deserted. This one perched in a nearby tree briefly, before flying up to some distant trees. She is a female - all over brown, with bright yellow eyes.

The one here is a male and is more blue/grey in colour with a pale pink streaked front. His eyes are a deeper yellow. He was trying to catch some prey near the boathouse pond, but wasn't successful this time.
