Mammals - The Grey Squirrel

First seen on Friday 10th January 2020 at Wallington

Normally I would say you'd be quite likely see a grey squirrel at most National Trust Properties. However, Wallington is different, and here the Red Squirrel is very welcome, but the Grey Squirrel is not. Grey squirrels may look cute, but they are bad news for Red squirrels as they carry disease which is far more serious to the poor Red Squirrel.

Apart from the obvious colour difference, Grey Squirrels are much bigger and bulkier than Reds and they lack the ear tuffs that the Red Squirrel has.
