Swallow, Swift and Martins - The Swallow

Swallows can often be seen flying above Wallington. This one was flying over the walled gardens. Swallows are easily distinguished from Martins as they have a dark face and long tail streamers. The males have really long streamers, the females less so, and the juveniles have relatively short tails and a dull red face. The male is shown here.
