Hover-flies - Common Hoverfly

First seen on Wednesday 2nd October 2019 at Wallington

There are five members of the Syrphus family, all very similar. This is probably Syrphus Ribesii - also known as the Common Hoverfly. The distinguishing features of this family are yellow face and a bronze coloured thorax plus yellow/black bands on the abdomen which just meet in the middle, apart from the top segment.
