Wasps - The Tree Wasp

First seen on Friday 7th August 2020 at Wallington

The Tree Wasp is one of many species of Wasp. Wasps are not easy to identify, but the simplest way is the various yellow and black patterns on the body and head. Tree Wasps have a single black dot on their yellow face and two yellow dots on their thorax (back). They are also much more hairy than most wasps. They can sometimes build their ball shaped nest in trees. This one is on the seats outside The House. It is chewing off some wood to make its nest.
