On first glance, these look like the more common Pond Skaters, but on closer examination, these Water Crickets have lines of bright orange and white spots. They have a stouter and shorter body than pond skaters. They like shaded streams and are rarely fond in ponds. They feed on small insects that have died and fallen into the water.
