Swallow, Swift and Martins in all National Trust Properties

House Martin

Sand Martin

Swallow

Swift

Most definitely summer visitors. These are the birds that arrive around May-time and herald the start of summer. Swallows and House Martins will nest in or on buildings and are very common at National Trust properties. Sand Martins nest in sand banks, so on most estates they will just be feeding (usually over water). Swifts nest in tall buildings such as churches and can often be seen in fields and lakes nearby.
