Finches and Buntings - The House Sparrow

First seen on Thursday 26th June 2025 at Druridge Pools

House Sparrows are very common, but I normally only ever see Tree Sparrows at Druridge. However, there are usually a few to be found in the Hamlet of Druridge, at the entrance to the reserve. Unlike Tree Sparrows where males and females are much the same, the male House Sparrow (shown here) is a contrasting chestnut and grey. The female is all-over brown usually with a broad eye stripe.
