Waders - The Jack Snipe

First seen on Saturday 21st March 2026 at Druridge Pools

The Jack Snipe is the smaller relative to the Common Snipe. It tends to be much more secretive than the Common Snipe, but when it's out and about it has two distinctive thing that help identify it. Firstly, when it moves it tends to bob continually. Secondly, it has no central stripe on its head. Other more subtle things are a shorter broader bill and two yellow/brown stripes down its back.
