Grasshoppers - The Common Green Grasshopper

First seen on Wednesday 14th July 2021 at Cragside

Similar in size to the Lesser Marsh Grasshopper, the Common Green Grasshopper also appears in various colours (not just green!). The main way to identify them, as with all grasshoppers, is the lines on the shoulder. Here, they are outlined and bend inwards, with dark patches at the rear. For those that can hear them they have a fast ticking sound of about 10 seconds, slowly increasing in volume.
