The Grey-spotted Sedgesitter is one of the few hoverflyies that has a friendly name. Its latin name is Platycheirus albimanus. Easily identified by having black and white panels rather than the normal yellow and black. It hovers around frantically, showing its colouring, but when it lands, its wings will cover the pattern.
