Wasps - The Ichneumon Wasp

First seen on Wednesday 14th July 2021 at Cragside

This Ichneumon Wasp is one of a vast number (tens of thousands) of species. They are parasitic and prey on caterpillars of butterflies and moths. Obviously with so many varieties, identification is not easy, so my labels for these Ichneumon Wasps is just 'best guess'. I think this is Ichneumon confusor or Dusona falcator. They are also sometimes called Darwin Wasps
