Swallows can often be seen flying at Cragside - usually around Tumbleton Lake and the picnic areas, as they nest in the visitor centre buildings (which is where this one was sitting). Swallows are easily distinguished from Martins as they have a dark face and long tail streamers. The males have really long streamers, the females less so, and the juveniles have relatively short tails and a dull red face. The one below is probably a female, with shorter streamers.
