The Mute Swan is the UK's only resident swan. Bewick's Swans and Whooper Swans over-winter in the UK, but although the Whooper is quite common in the north-east, it is far less likely you will see a Bewick's Swan. Mute Swans can often be seen either on Tumbleton Lake, or Nelly's Moss Lakes. There never seem to be in large numbers, just one or two.
