Bugs - The Lace Hopper

First seen on Sunday 23rd July 2023 at Cragside

Sometimes called a Lace Hopper (due to its lace like wings) Cixius Nervosus is one of many Plant Hoppers or Fulgoromorpha. They get their name from the fact that they can sometimes hop from one part of a plant to another, rather than fly. This particular species is identified by the intricate patterns on their transparent wings. They are usually found on deciduous trees and shrubs from May to October.
