Moths - The Yellow-barred Gold Moth

First seen on Friday 3rd June 2022 at Cragside

The Yellow-barred Gold Moth has a rather long name that doesn't really include its lovely metallic purple colour. They are very small, with a wingspan of just 9-11mm. They are found in woodland and heathland, several of these were found on the path from then Tarn lake to the top level. Unusually, these moths have mouths and feed on pollen (especially sedge).
